Tunnel Shift Engineer - Hinkley Marine Works

Are you a skilled engineer with experience in tunnel construction seeking a dynamic role in a major project environment? We are looking for a Tunnel Shift Engineer to join our team at Hinkley Marine Works, playing a pivotal role in ensuring the success of our tunneling operations.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage safety issues on shift, including briefings and toolbox talks.

- Supervise SCL/TBM/Secondary Lining shift works and ensure adherence to quality control standards.

- Work rotating 8-hour shifts, Monday to Sunday, covering Days, Backs, and Nights.

- Interface with internal stakeholders such as Tunnel Shift Manager, Tunnel Section Engineer, Pit Boss, and Lead Miners, as well as external stakeholders including NNB Tunnel Delivery Managers and NNB H&S Advisor.

Accountabilities:

- Control alignment and report on the program weekly.

- Ensure materials, plant, and equipment are managed as required by the Section Engineer.

- Plan and program works as directed by the Section Engineer.

- Maintain good relations with clients, designers, and the supply chain.

- Provide accurate setting out for works and ensure proper documentation.

- Input tunnelling construction data into the Tunnel Information Management system.

- Liaise with other tunnel shift engineers to ensure continuous operation of the Tunnel Control Room during TBM activities.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

- Civil Engineering or Mining qualification to HNC/Degree level.

- Relevant professional tunnelling experience.

- Valid CSCS card and essential certificates/training including TSTS, C&G Tunnel Entry & Emergency Procedures, and SSSTS/IOSH.

- Experience in face logging (for SCL works) and shift work preferable.

- Thorough knowledge of construction procedures, testing methods, and safety regulations.

- Good understanding of BIM and a desire for continuous innovation and development.
